Right now when I try to feather it with the shifter in (D), it shifts 1-2 too fast for my liking. Any little tiny bit of let-up on the pedal and it shifts to 2nd.

Mickey Thompson Drag radials have been proven to 230 MPH so far. Not a single blowout. But like I said made for straight line use only.
