My rights when the elevator is out of service? | StreetEasy
The elevator in my "luxury" rental building has been out of service for more than a week. I have had to climb five flights of stairs every time I want to leave my apartment. While I aprpeciate the extra exercise, I'm getting annoyed that the building is unable to get it fixed or give me a definitive update on the repairs.

The building is in a catch-22--if they take the elevator out of commission to repair it they are 'taking away' services for that period of time. But, if they DON'T repair it, it will not function correctly and that will also result in a lack of services. If the building has a service elevator, they should man that during the repair period.
