Nov 12, 2024 · One issue I'm finding; the working pressure of the press is 5,100 psi (@50 Tons), and the pump is rated at up to 10,000 psi output. However, it seems many hydraulic components are only rated around 3,500-4,500 psi, the 5,000-10,000 psi rated stuff is harder to find and gets quite expensive.

Nov 5, 2016 · Other thoughts are use of other machinery besides a hydraulic press. My plan was to use my 20 ton shop press, but it may be on the small size. Right now I don't have room for a 500 ton press that weights 50,000 pounds even if I could afford it. I was hoping to avoid the CNC or cast route and make more than one a day.

Mar 3, 2013 · I just purchased the 12 Ton at Harbor Freight and bought the castors at the same time. Before putting the press together I drilled the holes for the castors to make it a bit easer to drill on my drill press. The castors I used are four swivel with the locks so I can move it in any direction as needed but still lock all the wheels if needed.

Jul 15, 2020 · This eliminates any slop when the ram descends. I plan to install nylon bolts in the holes that can be seen in the brackets to take care of any sideways movement. Some casters on the base raised the press to a more comfortable working height, as well as making it easy to move around. I am waiting for a winch to arrive to raise and lower the table.

Oct 13, 2014 · The first attempt was a HF (mail order) "12 ton" press, with a 1.25" thick aluminum platen heated with a heat gun. We got some success but the press proved to be a total pice of junk and was ultimately, unusable. I considered building a press but then found one one in the classified ads "30 ton hydraulic press $250" Perfect.

Jun 12, 2017 · In the old 1920 catalog I have for my screw press they call the arbor press a speed press. So the slowest is hydraulic, second fastest is the screw press and fastest is an arbor press. I’ve thought of drilling the end of my arbor press to make a receiver but opted to just using square tubing to make attachments.

Jul 28, 2017 · This is why I have a two ton arbor press and an antique 22tn H frame screw press along with assorted press plates, clamshells big and small and SnapOn and Proto pullers. I had the pullers decades before the presses. Then there’s the cost of tooling, specifically a clamshell to be able to grab the bearing so you can press it off.
