Mee Toh School started off with Chinese as the medium of instruction until 1957 when it became a Government-Aided School. In 1985, the first batch of Primary Six pupils took the PSLE with English as the first Language.

Mee Toh School was established by Venerable Sek Kong Hiap of Leong San Temple in 1954 along Race Course Road as a Chinese-medium school. Seeing that many children were not able to receive an education, he first started classes in Leong San Temple, and later offered the land originally bought to build Mee Toh Temple to build Mee Toh School instead.
