The Waterproof Grease is a good installation aid for non-moving parts, just to help get them in place and to protect seals and gaskets. This worked for the failed cylinder that is now in the lid location but I suspect the remaining original cylinder fluid is doing most of the work as it is very sticky.

You do not want to use any petroleum based grease or other product on the rubber - first, because when you use hot water some of it could dissolve, and second, some rubbers will be damaged because of it.

2021年4月17日 · I've done that for years with Moen cartridges -- turn water valves off, pull the cartridge out, remove the center shaft, lube the o-rings with silicone grease, reinstall, good as new. It's much more economical than buying a new valve every time the faucet handle become stiff or difficult to turn.
