Dwarf sirens can reach an adult size of 12-19 cm (4.75-7.5 inches) and can be distinguished from the larger species of siren by counting the toes on their feet. Greater sirens ( Siren lacertina ) and lesser sirens ( Siren intermedia ) both have four toes on each foot, while dwarf sirens only have three toes on each foot.

This time they're laying a lot more eggs; I've pulled 40 so far and there's a tank full right now. Unfortunately, fertility rates seem really low, but we'll see what happens.

2024年8月24日 · 1) Vallisneria has native options, will grow well low tech, and looks good in a big tank. That would be my main suggestion. Sagittaria Subulata (either dwarf or the full size option) would be another good choice. Either forms big long roots and reproduces relatively quickly.

The target was Pseudobranchus striatus-- this particular pond is ~ 10 miles from the type locality of P. striatus lustricolus, a large distinct form of the dwarf siren that hasn't been collected since its original description in 1951.
