Pelvic MRI is helpful for accurate preoperative staging of vaginal melanoma. Primary vaginal melanoma is a rare malignant tumor, accounting for only 2.4–2.8% of all vaginal cancers and only 0.3–0.8% of all malignant melanoma [1]. It usually occurs in older women, with an average age at diagnosis of 68 years (age range: 28–100 years) [2].
