Rifled slugs are widely misperceived by shooters, And the very word "rifled slug" says why. If you've ever seen a shotgun slug that's rifled, you'll notice there's a raised rib on the shank of that slug. So it says, well, that's gonna make the thing spin like rifling would with a bullet. The smooth-bore shotgun does not really grip the rifling on a slug. So why is the rifling there? So that the slug will fit down different chokes. In the old days when they were shooting rifled slugs, you had a h
